On January 5, 2018, India face South Africa in Cape Town in the opening Test of the three-match series. Virat Kohli-led team has a chance to create history in the "Rainbow Nation". Former skipper Sourav Ganguly has some advice for Kohli on how to succeed.
India have never won a Test series in South Africa. Many experts feel now is the best opportunity for maiden success. However, it won't be easy. It will be a battle between the top two sides in the world. India are number one in International Cricket Council's (ICC) Rankings and the Proteas are at second spot.
Ganguly has said Kohli should be "fearless and take the risks" in order to win the Test rubber in South Africa.
"Just be fearless and take the risks. I think we have the right team. We will lose some, but I am sure we will win the most," Ganguly told "Hindustan Times".
He praised Kohli for handling the players well and felt this was the reason for his success at the international level as a leader.
"Apart from his understanding of the game, I think the way he handles his players is simply superb," he added.
Kohli recently married Anushka Sharma in Italy and is currently on a break from cricket. He and his team-mates are set to leave for South Africa in the last week of December.
India, led by Rohit Sharma, yesterday (December 17) won the ODI series against Sri Lanka 2-1 and will now the teams face off in three T20Is from December 20 (Wednesday).
After the three Tests, India will play six ODIs and three T20Is against South Africa.
