Rajinikanth isn't a superstar or a megastar, he is a phenomenon. His upcoming film "Kabali" is a rage even before it could arrive in the theatres (on July 22). Amid all the noise lies Radhika Apte, one of the lucky few actresses who has landed a part opposite this highly-acclaimed actor.
She plays Kumudhavalli, ageing don's (Rajinikanth) love interest. The leading lady is ecstatic and in a chat with NDTV revealed how she bagged the film.
"Director Pa Ranjith had seen some of my work and thought my look suited the part. One day I received a call from him saying he wanted to cast me. I flew to Chennai and we finalised everything in a day. It happened very fast. I'm very grateful that they made me a part of this prestigious project," Radhika elaborated.
A day ahead of "Kabali" release, we have listed for you some of the Bollywood beauties this senior actor has romanced in his illustrious career.
Sonakshi Sinha
She acted in "Lingaa" with Rajinikanth. Even though they had a massive age gap, they pulled off the quintessential dance-song routine convincingly. The young star had said she would love to work on projects down South, adding that it was an honour to share screen space with him.
Deepika Padukone
Although Deepika didn't literally share screen space with Rajinikanth in "Kochadaiiyaan" (it was photorealistic motion capture film), she loved the little time she could spend with him. "After working for so many years, his enthusiasm towards work hasn't changed. I admire him," she had said.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
This former beauty pageant title-holder was seen playing the actor's love interest in "Robot"/"Endhiran." "Boom Boom Robo Da" and "Kilimanjaro" had become quite a chartbuster in the year.
Manisha Koirala ("Baba"), Jaya Prada ("Farishtay," "Tyagi," "Insaniyat Ke Devta" and "Insaaf Kaun Karega), Rekha ("Phool Bane Angaray," "Bhrashtachar" and "Bulandi"), Reena Roy ("Andha Kanoon"), Zeenat Aman ("Meri Adalat") and Padmini Kolhapure ("Wafadaar") are some of the other Bollywood heroines the megastar has romanced.
