Shah Rukh Khan's "Don 3" has been in news lately. While most headlines say Priyanka Chopra (who essays the role of gritty Roma) will either be replaced with Katrina Kaif or Jacqueline Fernandez, fresh reports suggest that the central cast is in no way being altered.
"If and when 'Don 3' is made, the film will retain the original cast. At the moment, Shah Rukh has announced his choc-a-bloc slate which include three big-ticket films, while Priyanka will be busy with the second season of 'Quantico' and also start work on her next Hindi film," an insider told Mid-Day.
Farhan Akhtar, the writer-director-producer of the franchise, has apparently expressed major disappointment over the rumours of Priyanka being replaced, the source added. Because of such unnecessary casting speculations, the makers will apparently take time to schedule and announce their film.
What the source said could be right because last year, co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani posted on social media that the team wasn't going to change the film's central cast for the third instalment. "Much speculation on #Don3 & it's Casting. No thoughts of changing its casting..Working towards developing the script. Will keep u posted. Luv," he had tweeted last year.
Meanwhile, here's what SRK told DNA when asked if there was a chance that "Don 3" was being made: "'Don 3' is something that we have had no talk about currently. There has been no development. It's just that Farhan has somewhere started feeling that he wants to write it, but he hasn't started writing yet. So usko abhi time hai."
