Gone are the days when Akshay Kumar would just stick to safe commercial entertainers. The superstar has now moved into a space where he is experimenting with roles that he hasn't taken up previously.
Akshay has signed "Mary Kom" director Omung Kumar's "Five" and early buzz around the film is exciting. Scheduled to release during Republic Day weekend in 2018, "Five" will is expected to roll sometime in 2017 and be wrapped up in about 70 odd days. A psychological thriller, "Five" will be shot entirely in the United Kingdom.
With "Five," Akshay will be doing a third T-Series backed film, first two being "Airlift" and "Baby," both of which were critically acclaimed and commercially successful.
"It's a very different film for me. I have literally been nursing this project for several years now and I am glad the time has come for the film to go on the floors," Omung said in a statement.
Akshay Kumar will star in five roles in 'Five' and in producers' words, the film will "raise the bar with its exciting storyline, fantastic music, and its unique setting."
Mithoon, Jeet Gannguli and Amaal Mallik have been roped in as music composers, while Utkarshini Vashishtha is on board for screenplay and Ravi Varman as director of photography.
In other news, Akshay is shooting for Subhash Kapoor's "Jolly LLB 2," in which he will be seen essaying the role of a lawyer. Next up, he has "Toilet: Ek Prem Katha," "2.0," "Crack" and "Namastey England."
