Aspiring Kannada actor Nikhil Gowda, who is the son of former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and grandson of former Indian Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, got engaged to producer KCN Mohan's daughter Swathi on 20 May. The marriage is likely to take place in June.
Nikhil Gowda and Swathi Gowda met each other and fell in love while studying MBA. Having dated for two years, the duo decided to take their relationship to the next level. The respective families of the two also agreed to it.
The formal engagement ceremony was held at the residence of Swathi's father Mohan. It was a private affair, and HD Deve Gowda, his wife Chennamma, HD Kumaraswamy and his wife Anita were present on the occasion.
Nikhil Gowda is all set to make his acting debut soon. He has reportedly undergone training in acting in Mumbai and martial arts training in Thailand. Ace Tollywood filmmaker Puri Jagannath, who launched Puneet Rajkumar, will direct Nikhil's debut film, which will be directed by Kumaraswamy under his home banner Chennambika Movies.
Nikhil's girlfriend Swathi's family has also got a strong connection with Kannada film industry. Her grandfather KCN Gowda is a legendary film producer, who was the man behind the making of Kannada classics "Babruvahana", "Kasturi Nivasa", "Ranga Nayaki", "Sanadhi Appanna", "Belli Moda" and "Doorada Betta".
Swathi's father Mohan and uncle Chandrashekar followed her grandfather's footsteps and today they are among the leading producers and distributors of Sandalwood. Her mother Poornima Mohan has also directed a film Kannada titled "Julie" starring Ramya and Dino Morea in lead roles.
Reports suggest that the family is likely to announce the marriage plan on Friday.
The Nikhil Gowda-Swathi Gowda wedding will be the second in HD Deve Gowda's family in 2015. Deve Gowda's another grandson Kunal, son of former bureaucrat HD Balakrishne Gowda, tied the knot with Subada J in April 2015.
