Tech major HCL has officially launched Me Champ, a kid friendly tablet PC in India.
"We are very happy to launch our new ME Champ tablet specially designed for kids powered by a unique parent control feature. This product is aimed at parents who have their child in the age group of 3 to 12 years, and strengthens our tablet portfolio." said Gautam Advani, Global Head, Mobility Business Unit, HCL Infosystems Ltd.
HCL Me Champ sports a 7.0-inch WVGA display with 480x800p resolutions and runs on the Android v4.1 Jelly Bean OS powered by ARM based 1GHz Cortex-A9 processor with Mali-400 graphics engine.
Other notable features include 1GB DDR3 RAM, 4GB inbuilt memory (expandable up to 32GB), 2.0-megapixel main camera and 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera.
The tablet, targeted at age groups between 3 and 12, comes pre-loaded with interactive e-books, covering a host of subjects such as mathematics, science, geography, history and art, along with the languages.
In order to control and monitor usage of device by the kid, the tablet comes with application manager that enable parents to block inappropriate application content access to the kids. It is currently listed at online store Snapdeal for ₹7,466.
In July, smartphone leader Samsung had launched a similar 7.0-inch device 'Galaxy Tab 3 Kids'. It also featured similar softwares with dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 3.0-megapixel camera and 1.3-megapixel secondary camera.
