Before Hawaii Five-0 went on a holiday hiatus, it gave viewers a peek of what's next for Chin, the character essayed by Daniel Dae Kim, after he sacrificed himself for the safe return of his niece Sara who was kidnapped by a drug lord.
The episode saw Chin's birthday celebration getting interrupted when he receives a phone call informing him that his niece Sara has been kidnapped. Chin initially believed that Sara was taken away by a drug lord who was her father's client, but it is later revealed that Sara was being used as a bait to lure the whole team to Mexico as the leader of a drug cartel wanted to seek revenge for the death of his brother who died in a shootout with Five-0.
The final moments saw Chin sacrificing himself for Sara's safety. Previewing what's to come, Kim told TVGuide that the lingering effects of Sara's kidnapping will be felt throughout the season. "This storyline will get wrapped up when the second half of the season begins. [But] this theme of the cost of doing what we do will be a runner throughout the rest of the season," he said.
Kim also praised the young artist who plays Sara, saying she is a delight to work with. "I think the young actress who plays Sara, a little girl by the name of Londyn Silzer, is fantastic. She's such a pleasure to work with, and she brings such a great energy to the set, and I genuinely enjoy my scenes with her. And I think it adds a different coloring to the show that I hope stays inside of it."
Hawaii Five-0 Season 7 will return Friday, January 6 at 9pm ET on CBS.
