Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid have not split, despite reports. The couple are very much together despite having their share of ups and downs.
The former One Direction singer and the 23-year-old model sparked rumours that they have separated after the two failed to post pictures of them on social media, especially during the holiday season.
A source told Hollywood Life: "Gigi and Zayn are still together and very much in love."
"They have always had a challenging relationship, with lots of ups and downs, but they did spend time together over the holidays and she still considers him her boyfriend," the insider added.
"Gigi loves Zayn a lot and he makes her really happy. She loves inspiring his music and watching him write too," the source went on.
Rumours that Perrie Edwards' former boyfriend and Hadid are romantically involved started after the two were spotted in the same car following the American Music Awards after-party at Los Angeles' The Nice Guy club on 24 November 2015.
Malik and Hadid announced in March 2018 they had split.
Upon their break-up, Malik tweeted: "Gigi and I had an incredibly meaningful, loving and fun relationship and I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and a friend. She has such an incredible soul. I'm grateful to all of our fans for respecting this difficult decision and our privacy at this time, we wish this news could have come from us first. We love you all. xZ"
Hadid also took to Twitter to post a statement about it, writing: "Breakup statements often seem impersonal because there is really no way to put into words what two people experience together over a few years .. not only in the relationship but in life in general. I'm forever grateful for the love, time, and life lessons that Z and I shared. I want nothing but the best for him and will continue to support him as a friend that I have immense respect and love for. As for the future, whatever's meant to be will always be. xG."
However, they reconciled weeks later.
During an interview with GQ, the 25-year-old British singer talked about the couple's relationship status.
"We're adults. We don't need to put a label on it, make it something for people's expectations," he said.
"I had a very negative outlook on things. That might have been adolescence or testosterone or whatever the fuck was running through my body at the time," he added. "She's helped me to look at things from a positive angle."
