Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Gustakhiyan" may star Irrfan Khan and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles, according to the recent buzz doing the rounds in the industry. Directed by Jasmeet Dodhi, "Gustakhiyaan" is based on the life of writer-poet Amrita Pritam.
It was earlier reported that Bhansali was considering Deepika Padukone or Priyanka to play the heroine in the film. But due to the actresses' current international projects, the final decision had remained pending. However, now it seems PeeCee is ready to get back together with her "Bajirao Mastani" director.
"Irrfan has been on board from the start. He was our first choice and he remains our only choice to play Sahir Ludhianvi," Deccan Chronicle quoted a source as saying. "With her smouldering sensuality, outgoing personality and husky voice, Sanjay ji thought that Priyanka is the perfect fit for Amrita Pritam," the source added.
Apart from Deepika and Priyanka, Kareena Kapoor Khan's name was also doing the rounds. It was reported that Kareena, who had turned down offers of Bhansali's "Bajirao Mastani" and "Goliyon Ki Rasleela – Ram Leela," was interested in doing the film since Deepika and Priyanka would be unable to take it up due to their international projects.
Deepika is working in the Vin Diesel-starrer, "xXx: The Retrun of Xander Cage," her Hollywood debut in which she plays Serena, an ex-girlfriend to Xander (Vin Diesel). Priyanka is busy with "Quantico" and "Baywatch." From playing the wrongly-accused FBI recruit in ABC's thriller series "Quantico" to essaying the badass Victoria Leeds in Dwayne Johnson's "Baywatch," she has been on a roll.
Meanwhile, the news of Priyanka doing "Gustakhiyan" is not confirmed yet, but fans would love to see Irrfan and PeeCee together again after their 2011 movie, "7 Khoon Maaf".
