A mother was allegedly gang-raped by three men after her nine-month old baby was thrown off an auto-rickshaw, which eventually led to the infant's death, in Gurgram, on Monday.
The 23-year-old woman, a resident of a village near IMT Manesar, said that she had an argument with her husband earlier that day which made her leave for her parents' place in Khandsa village at midnight on May 29 during when the incident took place.
She explained to the police that the accused started molesting her the moment she stepped into the vehicle. Reports say when she resisted and her daughter started crying, they threw the infant out of the vehicle due to which the baby succumbed to injuries, a Gurgaon police official said.
The victim complained to the police that she was molested by the accused in an auto-rickshaw on the old Khandsa road which is close to the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway.
"A case of murder and sexual assault has been registered. We are investigating the matter as woman alleging gang-rape has refused to undergo medical examination," a senior police officer said.
Two other incidents of molestation have shook Haryana in the past one month.
A 23-year-old woman, who had been gang-raped and killed, was found on the outskirts of Rohtak. Another being a 26-year-old gang-raped in a moving car in Gurgaon and was abandoned in a semi-conscious state near her house.
