India women's cricket team hotshot Harmanpreet Kaur is setting temperatures high in Australia with her sensational performances in the Women's Big Bash League 2016 (WBBL 2016) with Sydney Thunder. After her heroics in the opening match for the Sydney-based side that resulted in an unfortunate defeat for her side, the 27-year-old performed to the best of her abilities again on Tuesday, guiding Sydney Thunder to a win this time.
Harmanpreet gave an all-round performance taking four wickets for 27 runs from four overs and scoring a quickfire 30 runs (6x2, 4x3) off 21 balls to help her team bag a win by 8 wickets against Melbourne Stars at the at Lavington Sports Club, Albury.
She tried to emulate India cricket veteran MS Dhoni in the last match, but missed it by a whisker. However, on Tuesday, Harmanpreet made sure she finished off the game like her compatriot. With Sydney Thunder aiming for the target of 117 runs for a win, the Indian women's cricket star scored a total of 16 runs over four bowls in the 18th over.
Here's how it went:
18.2 over - Harmanpreet hits a SIX off Danielle Hazell.
18.3 over - No run.
18.4 over - Harmanpreet hits a FOUR off Hazell.
18.5 over - Harmanpreet hits another SIX and finishes off the match.
Sydney Thunder scored a total 121 runs, giving away two wickets.
Fresh after guiding her national team to the sixth Asian Trophy title earlier this month, Harmanpreet has turned out to be the standout performer in the the second edition of WBBL already. Harmanpreet found an admirer in Australia cricket legend Adam Gilchrist as well, recently.
