American motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson added a new product christened as Roadster to its entry level motorcycle family, Sportster. The motorcycle comes with minimalist, fastback design inspired by classic racing motorcycles and targets the youth as its market.
The Roadster combines modern performance and retro-styling. The motorcycle is powered by an air-cooled 1200cc V-Twin engine that delivers peak torque of 103Nm at 3,750rpm mated to five-speed transmission.
Roadster features 19-inch front and 18-inch rear split 5-Spoke cast aluminium wheels. It comes with a new low-rise handlebar and mid-mount foot controls that centre the rider's weight. Roadster's suspension is a new 43mm inverted forks with triple clamps and rear suspension featuring gas-charged suspension. The stopping power is achieved with dual 11.8-inch floating rotors on the front wheel. The Roadster is available with optional ABS brakes.
The Roadster model will be offered in four colour -- vivid black with a charcoal denim pinstripe, black denim with a red pinstripe, velocity red sunglo with a red pinstripe and two-tone billet silver or vivid black with a burgundy pinstripe.
"Since its introduction in 1957, the Harley-Davidson Sportster has proved capable of constant reinvention, and the Roadster writes a new chapter in that story," said Harley-Davidson Director of Styling Brad Richards in a statement.
Harley-Davidson's current Sportster family consist of Iron 883, 1200 Custom and Forty-Eight.
