After working with Shah Rukh Khan, looks like Deepika Padukone is all set to romance "Kick" star Salman Khan in Yash Raj Films' next.
"The Being Human superstar has been roped in to play the lead in director Ali Abbas Zafar's next. Yes, he is the one who directed YRF's "Gunday", released early this year. What's even more interesting is that the "Happy New Year" actress may end up playing the female protagonist," stated a Bollywood Life report.
Going by the history of the two stars failing to land common dates for a film, it is highly unlikely that they will be seen in Yash Raj's next. But considering the fondness they share for one another, this venture might just be possible.
Calling working with Salman an "experience", the actress had earlier said it was really unfortunate that they have never been able to zero-in on a project till date. "We've been offered many films in the past. The first movie that was proposed to me was alongside Salman. At that point, I wasn't ready. I wasn't even an actor then. Unfortunately, every film that we have tried to associate in after that, hasn't worked out for different reasons. Salman and I aren't going anywhere. I am sure there will be more opportunities," Hindustan Times quoted the actress.
Apart from the unavailability of dates, some even speculate since the diva has already done three films with Shah Rukh Khan – "Om Shanti Om" (2007), "Chennai Express" (2013), and "Happy New Year" (2014) – she won't be signing films opposite rival camps. Padukone then reportedly went on to clarify that SRK is definitely possessive about her but hasn't locked her up and put restrictions on career choices.
However, according to reports she rejected the lead role in Sooraj Barjatya's "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" and an item number in "Kick". Going by Padukone's reason, packed schedule might be the only reason she had to turn down offers with Salman.
