The musical heist drama "Happy New Year" (HNY) completed its two weeks run on 6 November on a decent note. "Happy New Year" worked at the box office in its second week due to its family entertainer status.
In two weeks, the Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer minted approximately ₹193 crore, which is in the same range as Salman Khan's "Kick" earnings.
The family entertainer, directed by Farah Khan, had a good second weekend. It minted more than ₹23 crore from its second weekend. Also, the film enjoyed a decent run during the weekdays due to holidays on Tuesday and Thursday.
As a result, the film managed to take its overall total to more than ₹190 crore. "Happy New Year" next target is to cross the ₹200 crore mark in India. Due to the drop in the collections in second week, it looked like that the film would not touch the double century mark. But after its decent second week, the film is expected to enter the double century club by third weekend.
Shah Rukh's film has one more week to enjoy a good run at the box office, as the new releases have opened in very less number of screen counts. The collection would certainly drop as the film enters its third week, but it remains to be seen how much percent drop it will witness in coming days.
Meanwhile, on a worldwide note the film has grossed more than ₹350 crore by second week. The worldwide gross income of "Happy New Year" has also shattered the records of Hrithik Roshan-Katrina Kaif starrer "Bang Bang" (gross total ₹340 crore).
The musical heist drama, which was released on 24 October, also features Abhishek Bachchan, Vivaan Shah, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani and Jackie Shroff in key roles.
