The box office collection of Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer "Happy New Year" dropped on the fourth day i.e. on the first Monday.
The musical heist drama directed by Farah Khan minted approximately ₹15 crore on the fourth day, according to Koimoi.com. The four day nett earning of the film stands at ₹123.86 crore, as per early estimates.
The fourth day box office income of the film is decent, considering the fact that Monday is the first working day of the workweek. Also, several other big budgets films have earned in the same range on the first Monday.
Meanwhile, the film has recorded the highest opening weekend collection at the domestic box office.
"We are thrilled that after 'Chennai Express' had set a new record in 2013, 'Happy New Year' has set another new benchmark. We are grateful for the ongoing love and support of audience," Venky Mysore, CEO of Red Chillies Entertainment, told IANS.
The chief revenue officer of RCE, Gaurav Verma, thanked the distributor (Yash Raj Films), partners and exhibitors for success of the film.
"We are thankful to all our partners, exhibitors and especially YRF (Yash Raj Films) for helping us achieve this significant milestone," Verma said.
The musical heist drama also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah.
