The box office collection of Farah Khan's directorial musical heist drama "Happy New Year" (HNY) has dropped again on the fifth day. Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer "Happy New Year" earned approximately ₹13 crore on Tuesday, according to Koimoi.com.
The five days box office total of the film now stands at ₹136.87 crore. The film is looking forward to a ₹150 crore plus first week total at the domestic box office.
It is performing best in Mumbai and Gujarat circuits, but even in the rest of the circuits the collection is decent during the weekdays.
The five days total of "Happy New Year" is more than that of Salman Khan's "Kick", but less than Aamir Khan's "Dhoom 3".
"Kick" had an advantage during the weekdays due to Eid al-Fitr holiday on Tuesday, but the overall collection of Salman's film is lower than Shah Rukh's movie. The film even managed to beat last year's Diwali release "Krrish 3" starring Hrithik Roshan.
However, "Happy New Year" failed to beat "Dhoom 3" five day earnings in the home country. "Dhoom 3" still remains on top with highest five day total followed by "Happy New Year" at second spot and "Krrish 3" at third.
Here is the five days total of "Kick", "Happy New Year", "Krrish 3", "Bang Bang" and "Dhoom 3"
Happy New Year: ₹136.87 crore
Bang Bang: ₹109.49 crore
Kick: ₹126.70 crore
Dhoom 3: ₹149.25
Krrish 3: ₹130.41
Meanwhile, "Happy New Year" is Shah Rukh and Deepika's fifth consecutive film to cross the ₹100 crore mark at the domestic box office. Shah Rukh's last five films including "Happy New Year", "Chennai Express", "Don 2", "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" and "Ra.One" made it to the century club.
Deepika gave back-to-back hits last year with four films crossing the ₹100 crore mark and this year she rocked the box office again with "Happy New Year".
Her last year's film "Race 2", "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani", "Chennai Express" and "Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela" were ₹100 crore grossing films.
"Happy New Year" is a heist drama featuring SRK, Deepika, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Vivaan Shah, Boman Irani and Jackie Shroff in the key roles.
