Mother's Day, celebrated to honour motherhood, has fallen on May 8 this year. Different countries celebrate the day on different dates, but for India, Canada, Australia and Brazil, it is the second Sunday of May.
Mother's Day started in the United States in 1908 when Anna Jarvis started a campaign to give recognition to mothers. Eventually, in 1914, it was observed as an official holiday in the U.S. and the first official Mother's Day is believed to have been celebrated at St Andrew's Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia.
Meanwhile, social media has been flooded with Mother's Day wishes and picture greetings. Twitterati are posting pictures with their moms and writing beautiful quotes for their beloved mothers. Bollywood stars have also showed their love for their mothers on social media.
