The devotees of Lord Krishna will celebrate Janmashtami on Saturday, 5 September. The festival is observed to mark the birth of Lord Krishna.
The main highlights of this fun-filled festival are the events of Dahi Handi and Rasa Lila (Raas Leela).
Dahi Handi is celebrated because legend has it that Krishna used to steal butter from the gopis (milkmaids) of Vrindavan.
To celebrate Dahi Handi, an earthen pot filled with buttermilk is placed at a particular height. Then, a human pyramid is formed to break the earthen pot. This festival is very popular in Maharashtra.
To add some colour, popular rhythmic Bollywood songs are played during the festival.
From Sonakshi Sinha-Prabhudeva's "Go Go Govinda" to Kishore Kumar's "Mach Gaya Shor Sari Nagri Re", such tracks are played on Janmashtami.
Below are the top songs that are played during this festival:
'Go Go Govinda'
The dahi handi song from the hit film "Oh My God!" is the latest Janmashtami song in the list. "Go Go Govinda" featured Sonakshi Sinha and Prabhudeva doing some mind blowing dance steps before breaking the earthen pot.
'Chandi Ki Daal Par'
The 1999 Salman Khan starrer, "Hello Brother", had a dahi handi special song -- 'Chandi Ki Daal Par'. Though the film didn't do well at the box office, this song is played every year on Janmashtami.
'Mach Gaya Shor'
The popular Amitabh Bachchan starrer dahi handi special song, 'Mach Gaya Shor', is loved by every generation. Sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar, the peppy and vibrant track surely tops the list.

The soft and touching song, "Yashomati Maiyya Se", from the film "Satyam Shivam Sundaram" brings out the innocence of Lord Krishna.
'Bada Natkhat Hain Re'
