Happy Easter 2016!
The Christian movable feast — Easter — is celebrated to commemorate the resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ from the dead three days after his crucifixion and burial. This year, Easter falls March 27 after believers celebrated Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.
"And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus," reads Luke 24:2-3.
The celebrations of Easter begin with the Easter Vigil mass late in the evening of Holy Saturday and the day marks the end of 40-day-long Lent of the devotees. Thousands of Christians attend the Papal Mass in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican City, Italy.
