It is a known fact that entertainment is an industry where male actors are given preference to female stars. Only recently, women-centric films have become a trend in India, but it has to be noted that there was a time when Manju was given a "superstar" title for her powerful performance in films during the late 90s.
Manju, who began her career in 1995 in the Malayalam film "Sakshyam" starring Suresh Gopi, Murali, Gouthami Tadimalla, Annie, played the lead role in Dileep starrer "Sallapam", which helped her to make a mark in the industry.
Later, she became part of many blockbuster hit films, including "Ee Puzhayum Kadannu", "Kaliveedu", "Kaliyattam", "Aaraam Thampuran", "Daya", "Kanmadam", "Summer in Bethlahem", "Kannezhuthi Pottum Thottu" and "Pathram".
After acting together in four films, Manju got married to Dileep in 1998, when she was at the peak of her career. Sadly, their marriage was in trouble and the celebrity couple filed for divorce in 2014. It was then that Manju made her comeback after 16 years, in Rosshan Andrews' hit film "How Old Are You".
She then acted opposite Mohanlal in "Ennum Eppozhum" and is currently basking in the success of her latest outing with Rima Kallingal in Aashiq Abu's directorial "Rani Padmini". She will be seen next opposite Kunchacko Boban in "Vettah" and "Jo and The Boy".
Meanwhile, the actress has thanked all her fans for sending her birthday wishes on 1 November, but clarified that her birthday is on 10 September.
