Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan celebrates his 61st birthday on Saturday, 7 November.

Kamal began his acting career as a child artist in the 1959 film "Kalathur Kannamma" and he received the President's Gold Medal for his performance in the film, produced by A V Meiyappan.

In an acting career spanning 56 years, the versatile actor has made a mark in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, Hindi and Bengali language films.
