Happy Birthday Aditya Roy Kapur: Rare photos; lesser known facts about 'Aashiqui 2' actor

Bollywood actor Aditya Roy Kapur is celebrating his 30th birthday today, i.e., 16 November. He came to limelight with his terrific performance in the 2013 romantic flick "Aashiqui 2".

The actor appeared as the lead actor in this film opposite Shraddha Kapoor, with whom he was also rumoured to be in a relationship.

He is the brother of UTV Motion Pictures CEO Siddharth Roy Kapur, who is married to actress Vidya Balan.

Aditya will next be seen opposite Katrina Kaif in "Fitoor".

• Aditya entered the entertainment world as a video jockey on Channel V.

• He made his debut with a minor role in "London Dreams" (2009),  appeared in supporting roles in "Action Replayy" and "Guzaarish".

• Aditya's grandfather, Raghupat Roy Kapur was a film producer and his maternal grandparents, Sam and Ruby Aaron were qualified dance teachers, who introduced the Sama dance to India.

• Aditya's father, who chose to serve the Indian army met his to-be-bride during a posting in Kashmir and so Salome Aaron became Salome Roy Kapur who went on to win the Miss India in 1972 (Eve's Weekly).

• It is said that Aditya Roy Kapur was dating VJ Rhea Chakraborty in the initial phase of his career but later parted ways.

• The "Roy" in Aditya's surname comes from the departmental store ("Roy Bros") that his forefathers owned in Lahore.

• During his school years, he wanted to be a cricketer but he quit cricket coaching classes after sixth standard.
