Abhay Deol-Diana Penty's "Happy Bhag Jayegi" has witnessed a steady growth at the domestic box office collection. Despite stiff competition from Akshay Kumar's "Rustom," which is still running strong in theatres, the romantic-comedy has managed to inch closer to the Rs. 20 crore mark.
The 6-day domestic box office collection of "Happy Bhag Jayegi" stands at Rs. 15.78 crore nett. The numbers jumped on 1st Wednesday — Rs. 1.82 crore — courtesy positive word-of-mouth and decent reviews by film critics.

The figures are impressive because the film was made on a modest budget of Rs. 18 crore. Hopefully, the Krishna Janmasthami holiday (Thursday) will benefit "Happy Bhag Jayegi" in select few domestic circuits and help the film to break even, ahead of its second weekend.
A quick brief on "Happy Bhag Jayegi" Indian box office performance
"Happy Bhag Jayegi" didn't open big; it managed to collect Rs. 2.32 crore on opening day and stayed steady on the following days. The numbers escalated over the weekend as the film earned Rs. 3.81 crore and Rs 4.58 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, posting an opening weekend total of Rs. 10.71 crore.
"Happy Bhag Jayegi" still has a week or two until wrap up and as per early estimates, it may finish its run at the domestic box office with a lifetime collection of somewhere over Rs. 30 crore, which is great given its budget. However, the film's steady march could be halted by Tiger Shroff's "A Flying Jatt," which has released in 2,500-2,600 screens and is expected to perform well at the box office.
In other news, "Happy Bhaag Jayegi" is about a runaway bride (Diana) who lands herself in more trouble when she accidentally travels to Lahore, Pakistan.
