Mohit Suri's Half Girlfriend has had a good opening box office collection, over the first weekend, and is still going steady over the weekdays.
Starring Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, Half Girlfriend is running at a decent pace at the Indian box office with its collection inching close to Rs 50 crore in 6 days. The romantic movie had an impressive start at the domestic market as it had collected over Rs 32 crore in just three days of its release.
After completing the opening weekend on a good note, Half Girlfriend has been going steady over the weekdays as well. It had earned Rs 5.11 crore on Monday, followed by Rs 4.46 crore on Tuesday. The movie maintained the pace on Wednesday as well.
Half Girlfriend collected Rs 4.02 crore nett on its day 6, taking its collection to Rs 45.63 crore by the end of Wednesday. "#HalfGirlfriend Fri 10.27 cr, Sat 10.63 cr, Sun 11.14 cr, Mon 5.11 cr, Tue 4.46 cr, Wed 4.02 cr. Total: ₹ 45.63 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
Although it had mostly received negative reviews from the critics, the film apparently has been enjoying strong word of mouth.
While Hindi Medium could not affect the collection of Half Girlfriend at all, Baahubali 2 apparently has put some impact on its business. It is being believed that if Baahubali 2 was in being screened in theatres now, Half Girlfriend could have earned much more.
Having released in around 2500 screens across the country, Half Girlfriend is performing much better than expectation. Adapted from Chetan Bhagat's novel by the same name, the film will definitely cross Rs 50 crore collection by the end of Friday, if not by Thursday.
