Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Half Girlfriend registered a good box office collection on its opening day and continued a strong hold on day 2 as well.
Directed by Mohit Suri, Half Girlfriend collected Rs 10.27 crore at the Indian box office on Friday. Having released in around 2,500 screens across the country, the romantic drama earned better than what was expected on its first day.
Half Girlfriend had a slow start in the morning shows, but picked up well in the evening hours. Despite receiving not-so-positive reviews from critics, Half Girlfriend continued to do good business on Saturday as well.
The film witnessed better collection at the domestic market on Saturday. Half Girlfriend collected Rs 10.63 crore on the second day, taking its two days collection to Rs 20.90 crore. Taran Adarsh tweeted: #HalfGirlfriend Fri 10.27 cr, Sat 10.63 cr. Total: ₹ 20.90 cr. India biz. Growth on Sat: 3.51%
Considering its budget, the movie has been having excellent earning, and is likely to end the first weekend with good moolah for the producers. Another movie Hindi Medium also released along with Half Girlfriend, but that does not seem to affect the latter's box office collection much.
However, Baahubali 2 is still running in theatres and attracting a lot of footfalls even now, which apparently has been restricting the Arjun-starrer's earning to some extent. Although the movie could not impress the critics much, it looks like Half Girlfriend is enjoying a strong word of mouth.
Adapted from Chetan Bhagat's novel by the same name, the movie features Arjun as a Bihari guy, who falls in love with a rich Delhi girl, played by Shraddha.
