We are all familiar with the saying, don't judge a book by its cover.
But when it comes to real life situations, first impressions stay, prejudices stick. Then again, once in a while, a story comes along, and you can't help wonder how quick we form an opinion about people from their looks.
Imagine the umpteen number of times you have walked into a clothing store, only to be sized up by the salesman from head to toe.
A similar story happened recently in Thailand when a haggard looking old man walked into a motorcycle showroom to buy an expensive bike. But no one really paid any attention to the old man, a semi-retired mechanic, who was later identified as Lung Decha. Clad in an oversized T- shirt and worn out grey pants, he trawled showrooms after showrooms looking for a Harley-Davidson. He was meted out the same treatment in all dealerships, the local media reported.
He got the same treatment in Maxsingburibigbike showroom as well. The staff was under the impression that he came to admire the 'big machines' on display. But something caught the attention of the showroom owner and he started talking with the 'curious' guest. That's when he realised the old man meant business. He wanted a Harley-Davidson. The showroom staff were taken aback when he pulled out wads of hard cash– a whopping 600,000 baht or Rs. 1,114,520.27- from his pockets to close the deal.
The social media was quick to take up the story and traced the whereabouts of Decha. Lung Decha is an ardent fan of high- end bikes and has been saving for a long time to buy a brand new Harley- Davidson.
Credit to Decha for defying age-old prejudices, his is a truly inspiring story!
