Ranveer Singh-Arjun Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra starrer "Gunday" has grossed ₹100 crore at the worldwide box office.
"Gunday", which released on 14 February, had a strong opening weekend, followed by a good first week. The film performed well even on weekdays and managed good collections.
According to figures obtained from "Gunday" makers Yash Raj Films, the action entertainer has entered the ₹100 crore club at the worldwide box office. The film has reportedly grossed ₹82 crore in India, while it fetched ₹18 crore from the overseas box office, reported Koimoi.
Despite not having any superstars, "Gunday" has managed to cross the ₹100-crore mark. This once again proves that the content is king. The success of "Gunday" should bring some respite for Arjun, who was badly in need of a hit.
As for Ranveer and Priyanka, "Gunday" is the second hit in a row. Ranveer's last release "Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela" had crossed the ₹100-crore mark and turned out to be a big hit at the box office, whereas Priyanka's "Krrish 3" surpassed the ₹200-crore mark last year, becoming a blockbuster.
"Gunday" has continued to dominate box office, despite the release of "Highway", starring Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda. It remains to be seen as to how the film fares in the coming days as some significant Hindi films are gearing up for release.
Written and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, "Gunday" is set in 1970s Kolkata. The film tracks the story of two friends Bikram (Ranveer) and Bala (Arjun). The action thriller received mixed reviews from critics but has won the hearts of the moviegoers, which is evident from its collections.
