Gujarat State Fertilizer Corporation (GSFC) has offered a job to national-level shooting champion Pushpa Gupta, who sells noodles on the roadside in Vadodara to earn a living.
GSFC has promised her a job after she completes her studies. Gupta, 21, is pursuing a bachelor's degree in commerce and is in the third year of her graduation course, according to a Times of India report.
Gupta had developed an interest in shooting after joining the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in 2013. She won several medals and became a national-level champion.
However, she had to give up shooting after her course got over at the NCC, which was financially assisting her to chase her dream as a shooter.
The NCC stopped financial assistance soon after she completed her course at the academy some one and a half years ago, after which she opened a Chinese-food eatery on the advise of her father.
"After support from the NCC ended, my father told me to discontinue the sport and start some business in order to earn a living. Since then, we have been selling noodles on this lorry and now it has over been one year," Gupta told ANI.
Although, his father advised her against pursuing her dreams due to the high expense, he hopes his daughter can get back to shooting.
