The Gujarat police on Wednesday detained two men in Tapi district, as they looked like the two absconding Pakistani terrorists, who had sneaked into India along with Mohammad Naveed alias Usman and another associate who was killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district earlier this month.
According to reports, the detained men's features resembled those of the sketches of the two terrorists, the operatives of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had on Tuesday released the sketches, drawn on the basis of description given by Naveed.
ANI reported that the two suspects have been handed over to the Gujarat Anti-Terror Squad (ATS).
The NIA has been investigating the case of attack on BSF convoy on Jammu-Srinagar highway in Udhampur on 5 August. It has also announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh each for information leading to the arrest of the two men, identified as Zargham alias Mohammad Bhai and Abu Okasha.
Zargham is around 40-year-old, while Abu is said to be 18-year-old. Both are the residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan, according to an IBNLive report.
