"Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 has gone on a very long hiatus after airing Episode 8, titled "Things We Lost in the Fire". ABC aired the episode on 19 November, 2015, before going into a midseason break. And now, what seemed to have looked like a never-ending wait will be over next week as ABC has officially announced that it would be airing Episode 9, "The Sound Of Silence" on 11 February.

Until now, the fans were kept in the dark about what to expect from the midseason premiere. But recently, the network has released official synopsis and promo clip for the upcoming episode and going by the looks of it, we can say that it will be very tough for Meredith.

Ever since, the promo clip was released, the web has gone wild with speculations about "what will happen to Meredith?" The promo clip shows Meredith lying on the operating theatre, after being brutally attacked by a patient and all the other doctors working on her. The clip opens with Maggie talking to Mer, saying: "We're going to have to put a chest tube in. Your lung is collapsing." The focus then shifts to Meredith, who is able to see everyone standing around her, but can't hear them.

Then, Dr Webber walks in and tells Maggie, "You can't work on your family." To this, Karev shouts, "Everyone in this d*** room is her family."

Post the release of this clip, the network came out with another clip, which clearly shows how Meredith fell prey to the brutal attack. The video shows Mer checking patient's vital signs and minutes later, he gets up from the bed and starts pushing her. When Mer tries to convince him to go back to bed, he turns violent and attacks her brutally.

Now, the clip doesn't explain why the patient attacked her and it's still not clear why he was so violent with Meredith, but it leaves fans with one big question: "Did he hold anything against Meredith?"

Official synopsis of "The Sound of Silence" (via TV Muse) reads: "Meredith is brutally attacked by a patient, and Penny is the one who discovers her. The doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial rush to stabilize Meredith and remain by her side in the harrowing aftermath.."
