Three women were allegedly gangraped by six men posing to be policemen in Greater Noida's Rabupura area in Uttar Pradesh during early hours of Wednesday. The six men reportedly came to the houses of these women saying that they have to conduct an inquiry.
Similar to the Bulandshahr gangrape, these attackers tied up the men of the family and robbed their belongings. The attackers also ate at the victim's houses and stole six chickens, the police said.
"We believe six people are involved in the crime and they allegedly raped three women. We have formed teams to nab the assailants. The motive of the crime does not seem to be theft as the assailants ate and stole their chicken. We have also checked the criminal records of the area and no such incident has taken place in the last 10 years. We suspect the involvement of locals," said Jewar circle officer Dileep Singh.
The victims and their families, who are all brick kiln workers, were woken up at 1 am by the attackers posing to be policemen who came to conduct an inquiry.
One eye witness and husband of one of the victims said that they initially said that they came to check if the families had illicit liquor, but overpowered the man when he stepped out. The same took place with two other men and the women were dragged out and gangraped.
They had attempted to assault a fourth woman, who had pleaded that she was pregnant and was let go.
The women underwent medical examination in a Noida hospital after the attack.
A case was registered under Section 376 D and 395 of the IPC.
One of the owners of the brick kiln where the families worked said that another worker was assaulted on Tuesday evening and if the police had taken action then, these families wouldn't have had to undergo this violent crime.
The Uttar Pradesh Police was pulled up for its lack of vigilance after a family had been accosted near the highway and a mother and daughter were gang-raped.
