A teenager from Germany has climbed the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt and posted a video of the stunt online. The incredible footage shows 18-year-old Andrej Ciesielski, from Munich, fast ascending the 4,500-year-old monument and admiring a breathtaking view from the top.
Walking around in the complex I was waiting for the right moment to start climbing The Great Pyramid of Giza, he wrote in a blog entry. At the half some people got attention on me and looked up to. Thats how the police spotted me. They shouted something in Arabic I think but I didnt care and kept going while listening to music.
From his blog and Instagram profile, it is evident Ciesielski has a passion for heights as numerous photographs depict him atop of buildings in Hong Kong, Cairo and Dubai. He said it took him only eight minutes to scale the pyramid and 20 to get back to the ground. Safety first! he wrote.
The stunt won him tens of thousands of views on YouTube but also a close encounter with Egyptian police, as climbing the ancient monuments is strictly banned. I went to the police station for maybe one hour. They asked me many questions about why I did this, but they let me go, he told Buzzfeed.
