After the movie "Great Grand Masti" (Masti 3) was leaked online, the makers of the adult comedy have changed its release date. The film's release has now been advanced by a week.
"Great Grand Masti" was supposed to be released on July 22, but now the film will hit screens on July 15. Starring Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani and Urvashi Rautela, the movie was apparently leaked online on Monday with a high definition print.
The leaked print of 2 hours 14 minutes became available online two weeks prior to its earlier release date and also is watermarked as "censor copy." Several people from Bollywood took to Twitter and expressed annoyance at the repeated cases of films being leaked online before the official release.
Meanwhile, the Crime Branch has arrested nine persons under the Copyright Act in connection with the film being leaked, according to a statement. Experts believe that because of the wide range of torrents and increased internet accessibility, the future of films is doomed until and unless the makers of the film take stringent action, the statement added.
Earlier, "Udta Punjab" also had made its way to the internet before its release. It also carried the same watermark. Both "Udta Punjab" and "Great Grand Masti" are produced by Ekta Kapoor.
Directed by Indra Kumar, "Great Grand Masti" is the third instalment of the much popular "Masti" series. While the male leads remained unchanged in all the three parts, Urvashi is the latest addition to the third instalment. The film was earlier stuck in censor board hassles as the latter had found "Great Grand Masti" to be too vulgar. The makers of the film later knocked the doors of Film Certification Appellate Tribunal, which passed the film with an "A" certificate.
