Adult comedy "Grand Masti" has seen a drastical fall in the second week, due to new releases "Phata Poster Nikla Hero" and "The Lunchbox".
The film, which has done excellent business in its first week, has raked in ₹3.40 crore and ₹4 crore on the second Friday and Saturday, respectively. The overall domestic collections of the film stand at ₹73.50 crore.
"GrandMasti Week 1: ₹ 66.10 cr. Week 2: Fri ₹ 3.40 cr, Sat ₹ 4 cr+. Total: ₹ 73.50 cr," trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The film was majorly affected at the box office due to "PPNH" which reduced its screenings in India.
The adult comedy starring Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi and Aftab Shivdasani has surpassed the lifetime figures of films like "Special 26", "Satyagraha", "Raanjhanaa" and "Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Dobaara".
On the positive side, the film will soon cross the lifetime records of "Aashiqui 2", one of the blockbuster hits of 2013, and enter the top five list of the year's highest grossing films. As of now, "Grand Masti" has become the sixth highest grosser with earnings at ₹73.5 crore.
The film is also inching towards the ₹100 crore club in India. It requires another ₹27 crore to cross the century mark.
"Grand Masti" is a sequel to 2004 film "Masti" which was also directed by Indra Kumar. The prequel has an ensemble cast including Bruna Abdullah, Karishma Tanna, Kainaat Arora, Manajari Phadnis, Sonalee Kulkarni, Maryam Zakaria.
