Adult comedy "Grand Masti" is apparently following "Chennai Express" route to success at the domestic box office.
The Indra Kumar directorail has maintained a strong position during the weekdays, raking in more than ₹55.18 crore. On Monday, the film raked in ₹7.75 crore and on Tuesday it raked in ₹7.25 crore (few sites are yet to be reported).
Tuesday's collection was much better than Monday's in several circuits in India.
"#GrandMasti Wknd 40.18 cr, Mon 7.75 cr, Tue 7.25 cr [few sites yet to be added]. Total: ₹55.18 cr nett. MASSIVE HIT," trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"Grand Masti" has become the fastest film to cross the ₹50 crore mark (four-and-half days) in the adult comedy genre, according to The Times of India.
The film, starring Aftab Shivdasani, Riteish Deshmukh and Vivek Oberoi, has also crossed the lifetime figures of "Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum" at the box office.
"Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum" which featured Riteish and Tushar Kapoor has made a total business of about ₹45.14 crore in India.
If "Grand Masti" continues to maintain its pace at collection centres, then it would definitely cross the ₹100 crore mark. The film is definitely rewriting the box office rules in the adult comedy genre.
The film has also surpassed the worldwide collections of "Shuddh Desi Romance". In the Indian market, "Shuddh Desi Romance" has raked in ₹53 crore in 10 days, while "Grand Masti" collected ₹55 crore in its five days of theatrical run.
