"#GrandMasti collected ₹12.65 cr nett in its Weekend 2. 1st Week *revised figure* ₹ 67.40 cr. Grand total: ₹80.05 cr nett. Super Hit," film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
According to trade experts, "Grand Masti" is unlikely to cross the ₹100-crore mark at the Indian box office. However, it might gross over ₹90 crore in its second week, considering the fact that there are no big releases until 2 October when Ranbir Kapoor's "Besharam" hits screens.
The release of Shahid's "Phata Poster Nikla Hero" and Irfan's "The Lunch Box" has not affected "Grand Masti" collections much. The multi-starrer has even grossed more than the lifetime collections of "Aashiqui 2", which stand at ₹78.42 crore. But "Grand Masti" has now raked in more than ₹80 crore, becoming the fifth highest grosser of 2013.
The film, directed by Indra Kumar, has been declared a super hit. It is made on a budget of approximately ₹35 crore and the film's makers have already recovered its production cost. According to Boxofficeindia, the film's distributor share alone will be over ₹45 crore.
"Grand Masti" is a sequel to the 2004-hit film "Masti" and has Aftab Shivdasani, Vivek Oberoi and Ritesh Deshmukh reprising their roles.
