New Delhi, Oct 13 (ANI): The Central Government's proposal to
increase the compensation amount for Maoists who surrender to
the government has invited reactions. Congress leader Rashid
Alvi said that increasing the compensation amount may help in
reducing the effects of Maoism in the areas most affected as
more Maoists may surrender. CPI leader Atul Anjan said that
the Central and State governments come up with various schemes
to combat Maoism and increasing the compensation amount may
also help. Meanwhile, social activist Swami Agnivesh said that
increasing compensation amount will not be helpful in reducing
Maoist activities; instead the entire issue should be solved
by discussion.
