Bollywood actor Govinda might return to the big screen playing a father to heart throb Ranbir Kapoor.
The 49-year-old actor known for his perfect comic timing and garish dressing sense, has been approached to play teenaged Ranbir's father in the detective film "Jagga Jasoos".
As per reports, Govinda's role in the film is comical and hence the actor's comic timing has made him the obvious choice for the film. The actor recently met up with director Anurag Basu for the project and expressed interest in the part.
Confirming the news, the "Raja Babu" star told Mid Day, "I have seen their work. I would love to work with them. We are still discussing the role."
"My movies haven't released in the last three years and soon enough, along with the father's role, I will be approached for the grandfather's role as well," added Govinda with his trademark wittiness.
"Jagga Jasoos" co-produced by Ranbir and Basu has animated studio giant Disney backing the project. The film would entail zany adventures of a young detective and will be made on the lines of Bollywood entertainers.
The film, reportedly, has a two heroine act and Katrina Kaif has been signed for the main lead.
The shooting of the film has not yet begun but recent reports had slotted it opposite Shah Rukh Khan's "Happy New Year" set to release next Diwali.
Govinda's delivered his last major hit in 2007 with "Partner" opposite Salman Khan. The veteran actor has had few movies in recent years but none have left an impression at the box office. If Chi Chi as the actor is fondly known, signs the Ranbir Kapoor film, he might witness a major career come back.
Govinda was also recently approached to play a negative part in the YRF film starring Parineeti Chopra and Ranveer Singh.
