Lisa Lynn Masters, who is known for her powerful characters in several hit TV shows, was found dead at Nuevo Mundo Hotel in Lima, Peru, on Tuesday, November 15. She was 52.

The Gossip Girl actress was found hanging with a skirt inside the closet and the preliminary investigation report states that anti-depressants were found in her room, according to Peru-based media outlet Peru 21.

A close friend of Masters, Ani Mason, has launched an online fund-raising page gofundme.com on behalf of her husband William Brooks to meet the travel and funeral expenses. "Our dear friend Lisa Masters passed away tragically and unexpectedly in Lima, Peru on November 15, 2016. Lisa's genuine warmth, generosity and tenacious strength will be deeply missed," she stated.

Mason even shared the details about the financial challenges that the family is currently facing. "Lisa's beloved husband William is shocked and grieving her sudden loss. In the midst of his mourning, William faces daunting financial challenges, including the substantial funeral and transport expenses for Lisa in and between Peru and the United States," she wrote.

Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Masters began her career as a news reporter, but her love for acting pulled her to Edward Zwick's movie The Siege. Although her role in the film was completely deleted, she continued her quest for new opportunities and ended up appearing in many hit TV shows, commercials and films.

The actress was part of several popular shows, including Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Ugly Betty and Gossip Girl. She has also appeared in a few movies such as The Stepford Wives and Blumenthal.
