Pawan Kalyan-Venkatesh starrer "Gopala Gopala" has continued to fare well during the Sankranti festival period. The long holidays have worked in the film's favour and has helped fetch decent collections at the AP/Nizam box office.
"Gopala Gopala" hit screens on 10 January amid huge expectations from Pawan Kalyan and Venkatesh fans. The film received positive reviews from the critics and the audience alike. It took good openings on the first day and emerged as the fourth highest opening day share in AP/Nizam areas after "Attarintiki Daared," "Aagadu" and "Baadshah."
Although the film's collections witnessed a drop on the second day, it has managed to sustain and do decent business in the following days. The release of "I" has affected "Gopala GopalaIa" performance to some extent, but the film is still continuing to hold well at the box office.
The satirical drama has minted a worldwide share of ₹29.85 crore in six days, reported Andhraboxoffice. It has surpassed the first week collections of Ram Charan's "Naayak" and Jr NTR's "Ramayya Vasthavayya," which had fetched ₹29.5 crore and ₹28.6 crore, respectively.
A major chunk of "Gopala Gopala" collections are from AP/Nizam areas. The film has minted ₹23.08 crore share in six days, while the rest of the collections are from Karnataka, other parts of India and overseas markets. The film's AP/Nizam collections have surpassed the opening week collections of Mahesh Babu's "Businessman," which had raked in ₹23 crore.
The Pawan-Venkatesh starrer has been listed in the top 10 opening week share (Telugu films) of all time at the worldwide box office. The film has also found a place in the list of all time top 10 first week share at the AP/Nizam box office.
The satirical drama is expected to continue its good run until the end of the second weekend (16-18 January). It needs to be seen as to how the film fares during the second week.
The film's worldwide theatricals is valued at over ₹46 crore and it needs to hold on well for at least a couple of weeks to achieve the hit status. There are no big releases until 23 January when Kalyan Ram's "Pataas" is expected to hit theatres. "Gopala Gopala" is likely to dominate the screens along with Vikram's "I" until the release of "Pataas."
