Pawan Kalyan-Venkatesh's "Gopala Gopala" is likely to take fantastic openings on the first day at the worldwide box office.
"Gopala Gopala" will be releasing in around 1,400 screens worldwide on 10 January. The film is set to take huge openings, considering the expectations surrounding the film. The presence of popular stars like Pawan Kalyan and Venkatesh is likely to ensure good first day collections at the box office.
Trade experts and fans will be tracking the film's performance to see if it manages to beat "Attarintiki Daaredi" opening day collections. The Pawan Kalyan-starrer, which hit the screens in 2013, took record openings on the first day of its release. The family drama minted ₹10.75 crore as its first-day collections at the AP/Nizam box office, according to Andhra box office.
So far, several big Telugu films have released in the last one year but none of them have managed to surpass the box office collections of "Attarintiki Daaredi". It will be interesting to see if "Gopala Gopala" beats the box office collections of Pawan's last release.
"Attarintiki Daaredi" is currently the highest-grossing Telugu film of all time at the box office. The film has minted over ₹74 crore at the worldwide box office and remains on top in the list of biggest earning Telugu films of all time. Following the stupendous success of "Attarintiki Daaredi," there are big expectations on "Gopala Gopala" box office collections.
The film, unlike Pawan's past releases, will not be a commercial entertainer. "Gopala Gopala" is deemed as a satirical drama which deals with God and the religious belief system of the people. The film is a remake of the critically-acclaimed Hindi flick "OMG! Oh My God." While the Hindi version was received well, it will be interesting to see if the Telugu version satiates the audience expectations and strikes gold at the box office.
One also needs to wait and watch how the film fares in the US, which is one of the key markets for Telugu films. Pawan Kalyan has a strong fan base in the US and his past releases, such as "Gabbar Singh" and "Attarintiki Daaredi," did exceptional business at the box office. Trade experts will also be focusing on the US market to see how "Gopala Gopala" fares in the country.
