Google's popular infotainment smartphone (and tablet) app YouTube Kids has been made compatible with smart TVs.
Since the launch of YouTube Kids in 2015, it has recorded more than 30 billion views until now and has over 8 million weekly active viewers.
After the new development, children will be able to access several fun science experiments, cartoons and their favourite creator's videos on all platforms (TVs, mobile and tablets).
"Starting today, the YouTube Kids app will be available on LG, Samsung, and Sony smart TVs in the 26 countries where the app is currently launched," AJ Crane, product manager, YouTube Kids, said in statement.
Here is the list of TVs and countries that can have access to YouTube Kids:
Google YouTube Kids supported Smart TVs:
- 2015 - 2017 LG webOS TVs via the LG content store.
- 2013 - 2017 Samsung Smart TVs and Blu-Ray Players that have access to the Samsung App Store.
- 2016-2017 Sony TVs (with the exception of Android TV, which will be available soon). Note that you may need a firmware update for the YouTube Kids app to run.
Google YouTube Kids supported countries:
YouTube Kids on TV is currently available to users in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, France, Ghana, India, Ireland, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Nigeria, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Tanzania, Uganda, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Zimbabwe.
Google has announced that they will soon expand to other countries.
