More and more e-commerce companies are approaching Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani for placements with increased compensation packages, with the highest annual pay of ₹1.4 crore being offered by Google.
BITS has begun its placement programme and Internet giant Google is the first company to approach the institute with a whopping offer of ₹1.44 crore annual package for the students.
Last year, only one student got the opportunity to grab ₹1.44 crore salary package for a job in the social networking website Facebook, which is not coming for placements this year.
However, BITS is expecting that more and more students would grab the job opportunity in Google, to break last year's record.
"A good number of students sat for the first round. We hope that a few of our students will make to the final selection," Economic Times quoted BITS-Pilani chief placement officer G Balasubramanium.
Google, which has finished its first round of placement (written) test on 18 August, has scheduled to send the company's HR team by the first week of September for the final round of placement procedure.
More technology oriented and e-commerce companies like Amazon, Flipkart, Microsoft, LinkedIn, Goldman Sachs and Schlumberger too have visited BITS for campus recruitment with 5-25 percent increased compensation packages.
Of the 53 BITS-Pilani students recruited within two days of the placement programme, Microsoft and Schlumberger have shortlisted a few students who are being offered an annual package of ₹70 lakh and above.
Out of the total 2,300 BITS students across three of its branches in Goa, Pilani and Hyderabad, 150 have already been recruited and the institute is said to be confident of getting all its students recruited by the end of 2015.
