Google Nexus 7 Tablet PC Shipments Begin Week Ahead of 5 April Release

In a surprising turn of events, search engine giant Google has started delivering its flagship tablet PC Nexus 7 to Indian consumers a week ahead of the official shipping date.

Just a couple of days ago, Google had listed 16GB Nexus 7 model for pre-orders for ₹15,999 and also posted a message that the shipping will only begin by 5 April, but the device has reached India ahead of the scheduled time.

At least two Indians have got hold of the Nexus tablet within a couple of days of booking the device.

One of the lucky consumers, Karan Doshi apparently delighted with Nexus 7 in his hands on Friday expressed his happiness on Twitter: "Just got me my brand new nexus 7 Google you guys rock! Shipped it a week early! Yay!"

Nikhil Pahwa too received the Nexus 7 shipment on Friday, and he tweeted "So the nexus 7 I got for dad arrived just now. Google was supposed to start shipping by April 5^th!"

Nexus 7 tablet PC is Co-developers, Taiwanese PC maker Asus and Google unveiled the device during the Google developers' conclave 'I/O 2012' in June last year. A month later Nexus 7 was officially hit stores initially in US and Europe and other select markets.

Nexus 7 has since recorded more than 4.5 million units sales in 2012 and in the same year UK based tech magazine T3 (Tomorrow's Technology Today) adjudged Nexus 7 as the 'Tablet of the Year ' as well as 'Gadget of the Year' beating rivals Apple iPhone, iPads.

Google-Asus Nexus 7 tablet PC sports 7-inch HD display and runs on the Android v4.1 Jelly Bean OS powered by NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor.
