Even though Nexus 4 made a late debut in India, almost six months after its November 2012 global unveiling, many tech blogs in the sub-continent have hailed the Google smartphone to be the best Android handset in its price-range and even dent the sales prospective of other high-end smartphones like HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4.

While HTC One is yet to make its way to Indian stores, Samsung has its work cut out to make sure Galaxy S4 make enough profits to stay ahead in the competition.

Samsung even launched EMI schemes and cash-back offers with promotional ad campaign on television media to attract middle-class buyers in the country. But with the entry of Nexus 4 in the country, many believe that Galaxy S4 sales will take a hit considering their huge price margin.

Here is a brief comparison of main features between Google Nexus 4 and Samsung Galaxy S4:

Display:

Nexus 4 sports a 4.7-inch WXGA IPS screen panel with a HD 1280x768p resolution and pixel density close to 318 ppi (pixels per inch). On the other hand, Galaxy S4 sports an amazing 5.0-inch Super AMOLED screen with full HD 1920x1080p resolution and pixel density of 441 ppi.

Processor:

In terms of power, Samsung Galaxy S4 wins hands down as it packs a faster and more efficient Exynos 5 octa-core chipset which comes with two quadcore processors-one with 1.2GHz CPU speed and 1.6GHz clock speed. In comparison, Google phone houses a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor.

Nexus 4 also features the 400MHz Adreno 320 GPU, whereas Galaxy S4 packs a PowerVR SGX 544MP3 graphics engine.

Storage and RAM:

Samsung Galaxy S4 features 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory which can be further expanded to 64GB via microSD card. On the other hand, Nexus 4 boasts 2GB RAM and 16GB in-built memory, but it loses points due to lack of a microSD card slot.

Camera:

Even though Google Nexus 4 houses impressive camera features, it still falls short against the expensive Samsung smartphone.

Nexus 4 sports a 8.0-megapixel camera on the rear side and a 1.3-megapixel front camera. The main camera boasts of auto-focus, LED flash, 4X digital zoom and other standard features.

Galaxy S4 boasts of a remarkable 13.0-megapixel camera with auto-focus, LED Flash and 1080p Full HD video recording capability. It also houses a 2.0-megapixel camera on the front which can also take full HD videos.

Mobile Operating System:

Both Nexus 4 and Samsung smartphones run on the latest Android OS v4.2.2 Jelly Bean. But it is to be noted that Nexus 4 holds the advantage of running on pure Android stock OS and will be the first among all other Android smartphones to receive the OS updates.

Price:

Currently, Nexus 4 is now available for ₹25,999 in the market, whereas the new Galaxy S4 is priced a little over ₹40,000, almost ₹14,000 more than the LG smartphone.

But, considering Samsung's exclusive innovative features such as smart scroll, Air gesture, Voice translator, high-definition display and camera specifications, it justifies the price.
