SS Rajamouli's magnum opus Baahubali 2 (Bahubali: The Conclusion) starring Prabhas and Rana Daggubati has emerged as the seventh most searched movie across the globe on Google in 2017.
Released in theatres on April 28, Baahubali 2 has been making it to the headlines for good reason time and again for last eight months. The Rajamouli-directed historical fiction film was recently in news after Prabhas, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia made it to the IMDB's list of Top actors of Indian cinema. Now, it is once again creating buzz for another news.
With 2017 nearing its end, Google has announced its annual list of the most popular searches across the globe, which offers a peek into the movies that created ripples in 2017. Baahubali has landed in the seventh rank in the top 10 searches, while IT, Wonder Woman, Beauty and the Best, Logan, Justice League and The Fate of the Furious held first six spots, respectively.
Baahubali has beaten Hollywood movies like Dunkirk, La La Land and Thor: Ragnorok, which have graced eighth, ninth and tenth ranks, respectively. Interestingly, this is the only Indian movie to make it to the list of Google's global rankings of the films. This is another big record for the film, which has already set several international records for Indian movies.
Baahubali 2 has collected over Rs 1,700 crore gross at the worldwide box office. The movie was dubbed in Tamil and Hindi and has broken records in other languages as well. What is more surprising is that its Hindi version has created new club of movies like Rs 400 crore net and Rs 500 crore net.
