Samsung's Android Wear powered Gear Live has been made available for purchase in India.
The new Samsung smartwatch was unveiled along with LG G Watch at the recently concluded Google I/O 2014 developer's conclave in San Francisco. The latter (G Watch) immediately went on sale in India for ₹14,999 on 25 June [interested buyers, click here], and now consumers can book the Gear Live at Play Store for ₹15,990. [Note: Customers have to wait at-least two to three weeks for the delivery of the device]
Samsung Gear Live sports a 1.63-inch super AMOLED screen with 320 x 320p resolution and boasts of IP67 water-and-dust repellent certifications (capable of surviving 3 feet under water for up to 30 minutes). Under the hood, it packs 1.2Ghz Snapdragon 400 series processor, 512MB RAM and 4GB inbuilt memory.
On the other hand, LG G Watch flaunts a 1.65-inch IPS LCD screen with a stainless steel body having PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating and water-and-dust resistant IP67 certifications. It features 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB inbuilt memory and a 400 mAh battery.
The key difference between the LG and Samsung devices is that the latter boasts heart rate monitor as seen in the Samsung Galaxy S5.
In related news, Motorola's most awaited Moto 360 smartwatch which was expected to get officially unveiled at Google I/O 2014, is rumored to debut in August along with the second generation flagship smartphone Moto X (aka Moto X+1).
