It's been three days since Google has announced the roll-out of Android 5.0 Lollipop to Nexus and GPE (Google Play Edition) devices, but no Android affiliated devices got the update, now it has come to light that the company has pushed the new OS release date to next week, owing to major bugs found in the firmware.
Technology blog Phandroid, citing Google developer's issue tracker, has claimed that the some of the Nexus 5 tested with Android 5.0 Lollipop have exhibited fast battery on activation of Wi-Fi.
"Android Engineering is aware of an issue affecting Nexus 5 users running Android 5.0 which causes significant "Miscellaneous" battery usage while WiFi is enabled. This appears to be caused by an abnormally high number of IRQ wakeup events. We are continuing to investigate this issue," Phandroid quoted Trevor Johns (Developer Programs Engineer at Google) as saying.
As of now, there is no word on whether this battery draining issue is the only bug, or any other problems still persists. It is said the final bug-free Android 5.0 Lollipop version via OTA (Over-The-Air) will be released on 12 November, the very day Nexus 6 is slated to hit stores in the USA.
Android 5.0 Lollipop will be rolled out first to Nexus 4, 5, 7 (2012 & 2013 editions), 10 and Google Play edition devices (Sony Xperia Z Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One M7, M8, LG G Pad 8.3, Motorola Moto G).
Since the OS update is rolled out in phases, it will take some time to reach all corners of the world. Until then, Nexus series and Google Play edition device owners can check for updates by going;

The Google's new Android 5.0 Lollipop OS comes with an overhauled design language material design, bringing in interactive user interface, visually appealing graphic design (with bold colours & typography), tactile surface, fluid animation features, replacement of Dalvik with ART as its default run-time and many more tweaks for performance enhancements.
