Popular prime time television drama "The Good Wife" will return to CBS on Sunday, 4 October, at 9pm with lot of character changes in season 7, which is speculated to have a major impact on the storyline.
Showrunners Robert King and Michelle King are introducing new powerful cast members in the upcoming sequel to fill in the space left vacant by the regular characters in the show, including Finn Polmar (Matthew Goode) and Kalinda Sharma (Archie Panjabi).
But they are not the only major characters fans will be missing in the seventh season, as Makenzie Vega is taking a break from the CBS series. The celeb will just have guest appearance in the sequel as her character as Alicia Florrick's daughter Grace will be going for higher studies, according to TV Line.
Meanwhile, the protagonist will probably have a new rival with the casting of Peter Gallagher as lawyer Irving Carver in "The Good Wife" season 7. The character is described as the defence attorney of politically conservative businessman Reese Dipple (Oliver Platt).
The new cast member will reportedly team up with Governor of Illinois Peter Florrick (Chris Noth) to move against Alicia. But as of now, there are no official details if Carver will share screen space with Julianna Margulies.
However, the lawyer is expected to bring new challenges to Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) and Cary Agos (Matt Czuchry) because he is being sent to Lockhart/Agos/Lee to make sure that the firm is working according to his client's agenda, stated Deadline.
