Good Friday is one of the most solemn days in the Christian calendar, marked to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus, his passion and suffering.
It falls on the Friday before Easter Sunday and Christians mark the day with fasting and prayers.
At church services on Friday, Jesus' crucifixion will be marked with solemn hymns, while many worshippers will also carry out processions re-enacting the crucifixion through the ritual of Stations of the Cross.
In some churches and homes, a black cloth will be used to cover the cross and statues, to signify mourning.
